    Order Info, Terms & Conditions

Order Process

Here is a summary of how the Kit Knit online ordering systems works:
  1. To view merchandise and add items to the shopping cart, use the Category links (left) or Search box (right).

  2. When browsing yarn, view a larger colour thumbnail in two ways:
    1. select the colour from the (numbered) Options drop-down list, OR
    2. click on a colour square in the palette below the Add to cart button.

  3. While shopping you can click View Cart to change or delete items ordered.

  4. Checkout:
    1. Click Checkout when you are ready to pay.
    2. Enter info:
If you have an existing Log in, click the "HERE" link and type your User Name and password
      OR,
to create a new User Name: enter the Profile information in the fields provided.
    3. Specify Methods: On the next page select a Delivery and Payment method.
    4. Verify & Pay: The last page displays a list of the items ordered and permits changes. Make sure the information is correct and then enter your credit card info.
    5. Once you click the Submit Order button on the last page, the order is sent to us for fulfillment. If you do not wish to submit the order, you can continue browsing, or close your browser window to log out.

  5. Track your Order: After your order is packaged, you receive an email from Canada Post (and for U.S. orders, and email from the U.S. Post Office.) The email includes a hyperlink to delivery information. Use the link to watch the progress of your order from our door to yours.

Shipping Cost

Shipping is car pooling for packages. Compare: for about the price of a round trip on public transit, your order will arrive at your door the next day in most urban areas of Ontario and Quebec.

You can see the exact shipping cost when you complete step 4(a) of the Order Process described above. You can do step 4(a) at any time, continue shopping and monitor any changes.

If you don’t do step 4a. of the Order Process, the shipping cost you see is for Ontario and Quebec.

In many cases, you can add more products to your cart without increasing the shipping cost. For example, the shipping cost for 10 hanks of Cascade 220 (1 kg of yarn) costs the same to ship as 4 hanks.

Delivery Time

Your order is packaged and shipped on same or next business day. Delivery time is based on your shipping address. Orders are shipped via Canada Post Expedited Parcel which is a business rate that is most economical, fast, reliable, insured and has tracking ability. Here are some sample delivery times:

  • Montreal: 1 business day
  • New York: 6 business days
  • Ottawa: 1 business day
  • Peterborough: 1 business day
  • Toronto: 1 business day
  • Vancouver: 4 business days
  • Waterloo: 1 business day
  • Winnipeg: 3 business days

Pattern Shipping: Orders with patterns or magazines only, can fit in a large envelope. Currently our shipping software only calculates boxed shipments. Upon request, pattern/magazine orders can be mailed in envelopes via Cananda Post lettermail and the cost difference refunded to your credit card. Postage rates for the required oversize envelopes are about $1.15 (up to 100g), $1.92 (up to 200g) and $2.65 up to 500g.

For more information about delivery times of boxed shipments to your postal code, click this link: Canada Post Rates.

About Kit Knit

After many years in the tech field as a technical writer, systems analyst and software developer (they used to call it “programmer” back then). I had enough of the industry and was searching for a new career. I still love technology, but with a purpose to support more enjoyable and full-filling activities.

When I could afford the time and money, I also worked on another degree in TV / video production; got to contribute on a few really cool gigs, for example, on surfing, sailing, drama, public service announcements and forensic anthropology.

It was around, late 2005 when I finally had some time to give in to my friend W’s encouragement to come see a new LYS.

I’d been knitting since childhood but hadn’t done a project for a while. Well, I went to the LYS, a very fresh, hip and modern LYS with hanks and hanks and balls of beautiful colour fibre. Their motto was something like ‘feel the yarn but not the help,’ so I did.

Then W introduced me to this concept of felting. That was it, I was hooked.

After much research, an inter-country move and an intra-Province move, I launched KitKnit in March of 2007.

Does it pay as well as the tech field? No, not yet, but I'm working hard to get there and I absolutely LOVE what I'm doing.
